From the very beginning of Campaign 4, fresh DM Brennan Lee Mulligan has kept fans guessing with rich lore, a wide array of characters, and a gripping narrative showcasing angels, demons, and malevolent powers expanding in power within Dol-Makjar.
Heads-up: Revealing details for Episode 3 of this adventure follow below.
The Soldiers Table Introduced
Episode 3 ended with a major cliffhanger and presented the initial group of heroes who will separate from the central cast to undertake their own adventure, separate from the remaining groups.
The combat-focused team consists of Teor Pridesire (brought to life by Travis), the nimble rogue (the talented performer), the strong-willed figure (the cast member), Wicander Halovar (the player), and Kattigan Vale (Robbie Daymond).
The Reason for Division
Given an extensive roster, it was obvious from the beginning that having everyone at the same party would be unfeasible.
That’s why, the opening chapters of this story serve as an Prelude, intertwining the individual narratives before splitting into three separate parties: Fighters, Schemers, and Questers.
Characteristics of the Combat Party
Per the DM, the warrior group is for participants who enjoy a traditionally charged combat and conflict-driven story mode where peaceful solutions are scarce.
Initially, figures such as the hesitant healer the cleric might seem unsuited, but the actions of episode 3 show why these particular heroes are best suited for the Soldiers table.
Reasons to Leave
To begin with, the team knows exactly where to proceed after a violent opening clash with The Crow Keepers.
An old friend of Thjazi Fang—whose demise started the story’s plot—used the foes for his personal gain, invading the hidden lair, striking the character, and taking all the enchanted items to sell off.
Casimir then settled his obligations and escaped to a fortified location in Gormalay, Timmony, above the urban center, with Cyd Pridesire close behind.
Character Drivers
Moreover, each adventurer has a individual motive to exit Dol-Makjar:
- Thimble, as the close ally and best friend, desires revenge.
- The adventurer has experience in Timmony and cautions that it is a hostile location.
- The warrior and The healer, having resisted his relatives’ demands to execute Teor and instead rescued him, have nowhere else to go.
- However, their position as key figures in the influential clan could enable the team access areas they usually can’t.
- Furthermore, Teor swore a life debt to Wicander for his salvation and will now go with him everywhere.
Fugitives
Finally, all of them are hunted by the authorities that rule Dol-Makjar for a multiple motives, making remaining behind too risky:
- The rogue and Kattigan are recognized lawbreakers.
- The strong figure and The healer turned against House Halovar and the horde of evil beings they are allied with.
- Teor is targeted for elimination by the family.
This leaves them little choice but to head to the remote area in quest for the traitor.
